FRANK M. BEYER MEMBERSHIP AWARD
Annual Memorial Membership Award
for a Conference Attendee
We are sad to announce that Frank M. Beyer, a Life Member of our Association, passed away suddenly this past December 2015.
Frank worked and retired from the State Education Department as the Director of Safety Education in1995. Even in retirement he remained in contact with driver education teachers.
He was a member and served as an officer of DASEANYS, the former Driver and Safety Education Association in the 1970's though1989. When NYSDTSEA formed, Frank, although retired, joined and made himself available, helping to work through issues and projects that our Association was involved with. He was a great source of information and wisdom and his dedication over the years was very much appreciated.
Some of Frank's life achievements included being an Erie County All Star basketball player and baseball pitcher for Lancaster HS, something that he was very proud of. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, graduated from Buffalo State College in 1965, and received his Master's in Safety Education in 1970 from Missouri State College. With these great credentials he was hired and worked at the NYS Department of Education for driver education teachers throughout the state.
Frank was proud to be an American. He loved his dogs, boating, fishing, reading, playing cards, and traveling. He was a member of the Schenectady Yacht Club and served as Commodore in 1995, a representative of the Mohawk Hudson Council of Yacht Clubs, and a member of Zaloga Post American Legion.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend June, who he married in1962 in Lancaster, NY; and was the devoted father of three daughters;Lora, Lynn, and Kara who he loved very much; and was soon to be a proud grandfather.
Frank will be dearly missed by his many cherished friends, colleagues and all who knew and loved him.
This Annual Membership Award is dedicated in Frank's memory and will help recognize his service to our Association for years to come.
