Proposal - NYSDTSEA 2026 ANNUAL 1-YEAR WORK PLAN
The New York State Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association (NYSDTSEA)
For the period of March 1 – Dec 31st, 2026
The NYSDTSEA Executive Committee and the Board of Directors has identified the following activities/actions for 2026.

Emphasis Area 1 in the NYSDTSEA Strategic Plan
1.0 Increase and expand membership, support services and benefits.
1.1 Explore approaches to increase NYSDTSEA annual revenue.
1.2 Retain and solicit additional Corporate, Institutional, Affiliate and Individual memberships.
1.3 Continue to keep members, partners and stakeholders informed on NYSDTSEA projects and activities through email news-blasts, the newsletter, the NYSDTSEA web page, social media, and web meetings.
1.4 Plan and conduct virtual training workshops to assist members with professional development opportunities.
1.5 Plan, promote, and /or conduct a campaign to encourage the NYSDTSEA/NSSP involvement and solicit funds for students to attend the National ADTSEA Conference in Albany, NY.
1.6 Assist national and regional NYSDTSEA affiliates in participating at conferences and workshops when requested.
Emphasis Area 2 in the NYSDTSEA Strategic Plan
2.0 Modernize and maintain NYSDTSEA Bylaws and Constitution.
2.1 Conduct a review to modernize the NYSDTSEA Constitution and Bylaws and propose amendments to the membership. December 2025 EC/BOD/Constitution and Bylaws Committee/Staff
2.2 Establish a process for the regular review of the NYSDTSEA Constitution and Bylaws.
2.3 Support and encourage quality driver education programs by keeping the State Education Dept, Dept of Motor Vehicles NYS Health Dept., Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and other affiliations as well as legislators.
Emphasis Areas 3 in the NYSDTSEA Strategic Plan
3.0 Review and conduct workshops with DERIC Curriculum
3.1. Support and encourage the implementation and use of the Novice Teen Driver Education and Training Administrative Standards (NTDETAS) and ANSTSE resources in support of the NTDETAS.
3.2. Support and encourage the implementation and use of NYSDTSEA Curriculum Standards.
3.3. Support and encourage quality driver education teacher/instructor preparation, training and ongoing professional development.
3.4. Support and encourage culturally equitable and accessible driver education and training.
3.5.Support and encourage the safe and effective use of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS)
3.6. Support State efforts to administer and oversee quality driver education programs including the use of best practices.
3.7. Educate teachers/members regarding how driver education and training fits within The Safe System Approach.
3.8. Encourage programs to complete a NHTSA State Driver Education Technical Assessment and to take advantage of ANSTSE Consultation Services. ADTSEA assistance with this.
3.9. Promote the use of data and research to enhance driver education and training programs.
Emphasis Area 4 in the NYSDTSEA Strategic Plan
4.0 Develop, edit, and/or update teacher resources and provide these on the NYSDTSEA website.
4.1 Determine teacher resources CHOP that can be used for driver education programs, instructors/teachers.
4.2 Promote ADTSEA teacher resources on the NYSDTSEA website, including recordings of virtual presentations and workshops.
4.3 Enhance the NYSDTSEA teacher credentialing program. December 2024 EC/Education and Training Committee/ Staff
4.4 Enhance partnerships and relationships with state associations, regions, national and international stakeholders.
Emphasis Area 5 in the NYSDTSEA Strategic Plan
5.0 Participate in national traffic safety conferences and meetings and participate with other national traffic safety research consortiums.
5.1 Enhance partnerships with stakeholders such as state associations, regional boards, state administrators, companies, national and international organizations, government, etc.
5.2 Participate as a member of the Association of National Stakeholders in Traffic Safety Education (ANSTSE).
5.3 Accept invitations to present at international, national, regional and local conferences on driver education and traffic safety issues.
5.4 Propose potential projects to NHTSA for possible funding. December 2025 /Committee
5.5 Participate in national efforts that support NYSDTSEA’s Mission, Vision and Goals, (New York Programs: Our Roads Our Safety).

6.0 Conduct regular meetings of the NYSDTSEA Executive Committee and Board of Directors via ZOOM.
